The benefits of Chinese herbal formulas balance and harmonize, restoring homeostasis to the body's immune system. Chinese herbal medicine is a major aspect of Traditional Chinese Medicine which focuses on restoring a balance of energy, body, and spirit to maintain health rather than treating a particular disease or medical condition. Herbs are used to prevent and treat imbalances with complex combinations of high quality minerals and plant extracts. Chinese herbal medicine contains hundreds of medicinal substances, primarily plants but also some minerals and animal products classified by their perceived action in the body. Different parts of plants such as the leaves, roots, stems, flowers and seeds are used.  Usually herbs are combined in formulas and given as teas, capsules, tinctures or powders.

The main purpose of Swedish Massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. Other possible benefits include stimulation of circulation, an increase in muscle tone and a balance in the musculoskeletal systems. Recovery time is shortened from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid and other metabolic waste. Additionally, massage strengthens the immune system helping to prevent colds and flu.

Reiki is considered to be a system of enlightenment and a hands-on healing art.  The Japanese translation of Reiki is "Universal Life Force." This 2,500 year old Japanese healing art was rediscovered by Dr. Mikao Usui in the 1800's. By simply placing our hands on ourselves or another, the energy flows wherever it is most needed, thus restoring the body, mind and spirit to its balanced state of wellness.  Reiki is said to be beneficial for treating physical, emotional, spiritual and mental disease.

Reflexology involves the application of pressure to the feet and hands using specific techniques. It is based on the belief that areas on the foot correspond to areas on the body. Stimulating these specific pressure points can bring needed nutrients to poorly functioning areas of the body, thus restoring balance throughout. Desired long-term effects of reflexology include: reduced stress and its related conditions, increased relaxation and energy; relief from acute and chronic conditions, sports injuries and benefits sleep.

PRENATAL
ELDER MASSAGE                  30 Min $85  l  60 Min $145  l  90 Min   $185

This segment of the population is unfortunately undertouched.  Not only is being touched so important for human survival and our ability to thrive, research has also shown that social connection is a key component to the health and happiness in the elderly. "Isolation is a powerful risk factor for poor health," according to The University of Texas Health Science Center. An ongoing relationship with a massage therapist can be a significant part of an elder's support network. This massage is more about "being" than "doing." Often times the skin is thin and these individuals may be frail, therefore a gentle and calming touch is offered. Massage can be administered in wheelchairs, hospital beds, a chair or on a massage table, whatever makes the person most comfortable. I come to the facility or home where the person is living. When and if Hospice is involved, I can work in conjunction with them providing a peaceful transition.
